Yoga for Osteoporosis Prevention Workshop with Randy Boyd: Sunday, January 26 from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm
Low bone density, while more common in women effects both men and women. Over half of men and women over the age of 50 have low bone density. Peer reviewed medical studies have demonstrated that yoga can increase bone density. Weight bearing exercises has been a common treatment for low bone density. One problem with weight bearing exercises such as running, weight lifting and even walking is that these exercises stress the joints through repeated impact. Yoga is uniquely suited to stimulate bone growth without placing repetitive impact on the joints. Join Randy Boyd E-RYT 500 YACEP, Certified Yoga Therapist (IAYT) and Certified Yoga for Osteoporosis Teacher for this highly informative workshop. Randy was selected by Dr. Loren Fishman, who has conducted research on yoga for osteoporosis to help train yoga teachers to safely and effectively use yoga to improve bone density.
