*Cacao has been used for thousands of years in the Mayan culture of South America for medicinal, spiritual and ceremonial purposes. The Mayans believe that cacao opens the emotional center of our body – our heart chakra. They believe the medicine works specifically by bringing us back to the feelings of love and interconnectedness. The Mayans believe that cacao helps us tune into our true and authentic selves and supports our ability to listen deep within to the callings of our heart where the truth of our power and wisdom are stored.

Cacao beans are the seeds of the cacao tree. The beans are a source of many antioxidants called flavonoids. It’s not clear how these might work in the body, but they appear to relax the blood vessels. This could lead to lower blood pressure, and reduce inflammation and blockage of blood vessels.

Cacao is a mild stimulant. We drink it during the first part of the day to avoid sleep disturbances at night. The cacao usually affects people in a similar way as coffee might. Again, you do not need to consume the cacao to have a transformation experience during this gathering.
